Our Story

In the Furniture Game Since 1978

 

We’ve been retailing furniture in Auckland since 1978, and while much has changed over the generations, we’ve always been a family business in every sense of the word. 

Now run by Angus Dawson and his business partner Scott Fisk, Dawson & Co has grown from humble beginnings with only Atholl and his brothers in 1978, to over 16 today.

In 2015, we rebranded from Dawson's Furniture and opened our second showroom in the heart of Auckland's design precinct Parnell. 

The following year we launched our first in-house designed Outdoor furniture collection at the International Furniture Fair in Singapore, picking up several international retail partners from USA, Belgium and Singapore along with contracts for International hotel chains.

In 2018 we launched our first Outdoor collection in collaboration with Anthropologie in the USA which has expanded to 3 ranges in 2020. 

In 2025, we joined forces with Cosh Living, bringing together two like-minded businesses united by a shared appreciation for relaxed, luxury living. The partnership also established a shared warehousing and upholstery factory in Melbourne, streamlining operations and enabling shorter lead times.

In 2026, after 48 years on The Shore, we farewelled our Rosedale showroom to focus on the continued expansion of our Parnell precinct, which in recent years has grown from 750sqm to over 1200sqm. The reimagined space introduced Kett to New Zealand, alongside establishing the arrival of a dedicated Molteni&C flagship, on 99 The Strand.
