Materials for NZ’s Outdoor Conditions
Understanding the material options in our outdoor tables range helps you choose the right piece for your environment:
- Powder-coated aluminium — lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and ideal for coastal and high-humidity settings; used across Tribu and Cove Outdoor frames
- Ceramic and porcelain tops — highly durable, typically stain-resistant, and easy to wipe clean; featured in the Dunes terrazzo and Sway stoneware tables
- Natural teak — a premium hardwood naturally resistant to moisture; can develop a distinguished silver-grey patina over time or be maintained with periodic oiling
- UV-stabilised synthetic weave — used by Dedon and Tribu; engineered to maintain colour and integrity through extended outdoor exposure
How to Style Outdoor Coffee and Side Tables
Layer scale and height across your outdoor setting for the best result. A primary coffee table at the centre of a lounge grouping can be complemented by one or two smaller side tables at varying heights — adding visual interest and practical surface area.
Mixing materials adds depth. A ceramic-topped coffee table pairs beautifully with a rope-woven lounge chair; a teak side table brings warmth to an otherwise aluminium-framed setting.
For compact balconies, the Drops table, Bertus Side Table, and Izon Side Table offer elegant function in a smaller footprint. For larger outdoor entertaining areas, the Branch Low Tables, T-Table, and Ukiyo Coffee Table provide generous scale and strong design presence.
