Polo originated in China and Persia around 2000 years ago. British tea planters discovered the game being played on the Indian border in the 1850s and founded the Calcutta Polo Club, the world’s oldest existing club.

Often cited as the sport of kings and nobility, polo is popular with the British Royal Family with both Prince William and Prince Harry accomplished players, while Prince Philip has been president of the Guards Polo Club since its formation in 1955.

This enlarged vintage photograph pays homage to the sport’s heritage, printed on museum quality paper and framed in solid oak.
